The Chicago Bears could be looking at one of several quarterbacks available via trade right now.
The question is, which quarterback ends up in Chicago? If we’re being realistic, maybe the Bears won’t have a shot at the best and biggest names out there.
Teams like the New York Jets and Washington Football Team can offer some pretty stellar trade returns for established veteran quarterbacks. The Jets are obviously at the top of the list in terms of possible packages to acquire someone like Deshaun Watson. They do not lack in draft capital.
The Bears, on the other hand, don’t have an abundance of draft capital and also don’t have an overwhelming amount of cap space. Of course, the latter can be created and has been created in the past by general manager Ryan Pace. Moving money around, restructuring deals and converting larger roster bonuses is the name of the game.
Still, Chicago may not be able to put together an offer worthy of a top-12 quarterback — and there’s a couple of those available as we speak.
To avoid losing his job after the 2021 season, though, Pace is going to need to work some magic. He has no choice. The Bears have been quarterback-starved for so long now. No, we’re not talking Jay Cutler. This team has never had an elite quarterback. It’s time they do whatever it takes to get a quarterback as close as possible to that status.
With the names floating around the rumor mill this offseason, the Bears could look to put together quite a haul for potential trade suitors. These are the quarterbacks who either are, or could become available, and the extent the Bears could go to acquire them.
