Chicago Bears: Most compelling trade package for top available quarterbacks
By Ryan Heckman
Derek Carr might be the most underrated quarterback option for the Chicago Bears
Last offseason, the rumors were flying in regards to the Raiders moving on from veteran quarterback Derek Carr. There were some whispers that the Bears could go after Carr, but nothing ever came to fruition, and none of the reports had any serious legs.
This offseason, we could see even more quarterback movement than we did a year ago. Would the Raiders finally decide to move on from Carr, the Bears should be the first team on the phones.
Carr is well-worth a higher price tag like a first-round pick and more. Just a few years ago, Carr was an MVP candidate before he suffered an injury that knocked him out for the season.
He’s thrown for over 4,000 yards in three straight seasons, which is something the Bears haven’t seen a quarterback do in a while. If the Raiders plan to draft their franchise quarterback this year, then Carr is available. If he’s available, the Bears should not hesitate to offer a first-round pick.
In addition to the first-round pick, Chicago should cement their offer by giving them a second-rounder next year. Carr in Chicago would mean the Bears are undoubtedly an NFC contender, especially if they can find an offensive tackle in Round 2.
If they were able to land any of these quarterbacks, the other domino in play is the future of Allen Robinson. Could a quarterback trade be enough to convince Robinson to want to stick around? It just might be.
