Chicago Bears draft outlook: 2018, Detroit selects Frank Ragnow

The Lions have a talent at center right now and it’s the 24-year-old Frank Ragnow.

The former Razorback ranked as the third-highest graded center in 2020 with an 80.3 grade according to Pro Football Focus. Ragnow only trailed Corey Linsley (86.4) of the Green Bay Packers and J.C. Tretter (81.0) of the Cleveland Browns. The Packers and Browns had two of the best rushing attacks this season and the Lions seem to have their answer in the running game with former Georgia Bulldog D’Andre Swift.

Swift rushed just 114 times for 521 yards but finished with eight touchdowns. There seemed to be a commity at the beginning of the season with Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson, but the former 35th overall pick in 2020 came away with the starting job later in the year. Ragnow and Swift will have a new quarterback next season with former Rams quarterback Jared Goff coming to the Motor City after the organization traded away Matthew Stafford.

After the Bears selected Roquan Smith at Pick 8, other notable names drafted were Isaiah Wynn (OT) to the New England Patriots at Pick 23, D.J. Moore to the Carolina Panthers at Pick 24, Calvin Ridley to the Atlanta Falcons at Pick 26 and 2019 MVP Lamar Jackson to the Baltimore Ravens at Pick 32.

Not sure there will ever be a talent like Jackson to fall that late in the draft again.
