Chicago Bears get in on Kirk Cousins trade buzz with these deals
By Ryan Heckman
Kirk Cousins comes to the Chicago Bears in a package featuring two players and two picks
This is a deal that could go both ways. The Vikings might hang up, but they also might be interested. It’s an intriguing deal for either side.
Minnesota needs help up front along their offensive line, and Charles Leno might actually help their case. At the same time, the Bears are looking for a change at the tackle position.
The Bears get Cousins and that’s it. The Vikings get Chicago’s no. 20 pick, next year’s first, Charles Leno and Nick Foles.
Let’s say the Vikings do end up packaging the no. 20 pick they receive from the Bears with their own first rounder to go up even further and take a guy like Zach Wilson, or maybe Trey Lance if they can’t move up high enough for Wilson. If they get their hands on a rookie, having a guy like Nick Foles to help bring them along would be an advantage.
Foles might not even come in and start ahead of the rookie, but having him there as an insurance plan and mentor could be invaluable to the Vikings.
Meanwhile, the Bears are able to shed a little salary while netting a legitimate starting quarterback. They also keep their second and third rounders this year, which we’ve established is very important.
