Could the Chicago Bears look at other trade options this offseason?

Remember that Ryan Pace said “everything is on the table”, but what exactly does that mean? Would Pace consider trading for any of these other quarterbacks this offseason?

Sam Darnold Ι Jets

If the Chicago Bears traded for Sam Darnold I think most of Bears’ social media would lose their minds negatively. The thing is, Darnold has upside still. He is younger than rookie Joe Burrow and could still develop as he matures. Not to mention, he has great arm strength that some teams might still be in love with.

I would not hate the idea of Darnold, but only if the draft capital to acquire him is minimal. Problem is, the only way he moves from the Jets is in a trade for Deshaun Watson.

Kirk Cousins Ι Vikings

Would the Chicago Bears consider making a move for NFC North rival Kirk Cousins? This is highly unlikely, but Cousins has recently been in the quarterback carousel discussion. Rumors are that the 49ers might be interested, reuniting Cousins with Kyle Shanahan.

Cousins is a bit of a head case, but he is actually better than many give him credit. I don’t think he moves the needle enough though and the Vikings are not likely to trade Cousins within the division.

Gardner Minshew Ι Jaguars

Do the Chicago Bears go back to the Jaguars and trade for Gardner Minshew? This makes little sense to me, but it seems to be picking up traction among many fans. Minshew’s 2019 season reminded me of Linsanity when everyone Jeremy Lin took storm over the NBA. Both players had some great success, but their talent was overvalued.

I don’t hate the idea of Minshew starting for the Chicago Bears, but this cannot be a long-term answer. The Bears should only give up a mid-round pick for Minshew (maybe a fifth-rounder) and must also focus on drafting a quarterback early in 2021. Again, I find this move to be a bad one.
