Derek Carr is a quarterback the Chicago Bears must call about

Contract situation: 2 years left Ι $21 million AAV

Here is an interesting option for the Chicago Bears. I am all about Ryan Pace trying to bring in Derek Carr this offseason. In fact, he was my top target last season, but the Raiders stuck with Carr and went 7-9 on the season while finishing third in their division.

Jon Gruden has never seemed to me as a Derek Carr guy. He did have some love for Marcus Mariota though, who the Raiders made a move for last season. Mariota signed a two-year contract last offseason for $17.5 million dollars.

Mariota played in one game last season (did not start) and completed 17 of 28 passes for 226 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He showed some promise for the Raiders in this game as the team lost in overtime to the Chargers.

There are rumors that the Raiders are wanting to trade for Watson and in doing so, they could trade Carr for draft picks to help sweeten the pot for the Texans. Even if Watson is out of the question, could Gruden decide to obtain draft capital for Carr anyway and roll the dice with Mariot instead? Honestly, when Jon Gruden is involved, anything is possible. That said, I don’t think they make a trade involving their starting quarterback this offseason.

Predicted landing spot: Oakland Raiders
