Chicago Bears: What could have been with Tom Brady at quarterback
Well, that Super Bowl was not what I expected. Tom Brady and the Buccaneers came out of the tunnel and played a more physical game from start to finish. Many will complain about the penalties stating that the refs once again were in Brady’s back pocket. There were a couple of bad calls, but that’s not the reason why the Chiefs lost this game. What’s crazy is how close the Chicago Bears were to bringing Tom Brady to Chicago. Would Brady have won with this team?
You might not remember this, but the Chicago Bears were one of Tom Brady’s final teams on his shortlist. In fact, rumors have it that the Bears were runner-ups to the Bucs and the only reason he chose Tampa Bay was that he no longer wanted to play in cold weather. At 43 years old (ancient in football years), who could blame him? If we had to choose between subzero temperatures and snow versus sunshine and palm trees, which would you choose?
Could you imagine how the 2020 season would have gone if Tom Brady decided to play in Chicago instead of Tampa Bay? Could this team have produced at the same or similar level as the Bucs? Well, it might have been possible. As the Chicago Bears finished 8-8 on the year and second in the NFC North, I would think having Brady under center would have propelled them to at least 10-6 on the year (still second). The Bucs finished 11-5 this season and second in the division.
