Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Khalil Mack trade transforms franchise

The Chicago Bears also look to develop a corner
With pick 196, the Bears take a developmental cornerback out of Georgia in D.J. Daniel. The Bulldog has great size at 6-foot-1 but is coming off a season that saw him appear in only four games after suffering an ankle injury.
Daniel had a pretty solid week at the Senior Bowl, which definitely helps his stock. He very well could go anywhere between the fifth and seventh rounds.
As a projected special teams standout, Daniel has some work to do if he is to be trusted at any true cornerback position. He is athletically gifted, but his ball skills are pretty poor. In college, he did not secure a single interception in 17 games played while at Georgia.
Daniel does pretty well in press coverage, so that’s an area the Bears can work with. But, again, this is a defense that needs takeaways and Daniel doesn’t provide much on that front.
The Bears could be losing Sherrick McManis after a lengthy stint with the Bears, and adding Daniel would help provide a lift from McManis’ departure. McManis was always stout on special teams, too, so this is a role ideally suited for Daniel.
