5 Free agent wide receivers the Chicago Bears need to target

Chicago Bears free-agent wide receiver target: JuJu Smith-Schuster
The Bears are in dire need of a true slot wide receiver as Miller is not cutting it. Since entering the NFL, JuJu Smith-Schuster has excelled greatly at the slot when he isn’t garnering most of the attention of the defense. When playing alongside Antonio Brown, he was nearly unstoppable.
Smith-Schuster just ended his rookie contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He showed in Pittsburgh he cannot be a number one wide receiver, so he should not be paid like one. While a number two receiver though, he caught 111 passes for 1,426 yards and seven touchdowns in 2018. He additionally had a solid rookie season as well. After 2018 though, Smith-Schuster failed to break 900 receiving yards in both 2019 and 2020.
If the Bears brought back Robinson and brought in Smith-Schuster, the Bears could contest for one of the best wide receiver cores in football with Mooney alongside them. He would be a great fit for the Bears in need of a slot.
Other options:
- Will Fuller
- Curtis Samuel
- Keelan Cole
- Rashard Higgins
- Josh Reynolds
All in all, this is a deep wide receiver free agent market and draft. The Bears need to address it this offseason heavily given how deep it is in both of these markets.
