The Chicago Bears could and should target Dak Prescott if he hits free agency

The Chicago Bears need a winner under center and that could easily be Dak Prescott. Since entering the league in 2016, Prescott has gone 42-27 with the Dallas Cowboys.

Prescott suffered an unfortunate leg injury in 2020 when he was amongst the top passing yard leaders through the first five weeks. In five games (four of which he completed), the 28-year-old threw for 1,856 yards with nine touchdowns and four interceptions. He was on a 17-game pace to throw for 6,310 yards and 31 touchdowns, which isn’t including the plays he can make with his legs.

Chicago has the defense for Prescott to step in and win games. It all comes down to what Jerry Jones and Dallas’ front office believe he can accomplish. If the Cowboys let him walk, then throw the kitchen sink at Prescott and reap the benefits Ryan Pace. He’s a clear upgrade at the position and a player who will be hungry for success coming off an injury.

The USA Today reported when Prescott was carted off the field that his recovery timeline was estimated at four months from the Oct. 11 operation. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said that Prescott was “ahead of schedule” in that report which should hopefully put Prescott on track to open the 2021-22 season.
