Could the Chicago Bears find their own magic with Ryan Fitzpatrick?

Imagine a world where the Chicago Bears bring Ryan “Fitzmagic” to town. A veteran quarterback that has seen it all having played for eight NFL teams with his most recent stint coming in Miami where he was a stopgap mentor for Tua Tagovailoa.

Now, obviously, the 39-year-old journeyman wouldn’t be a long-term answer for the Bears, but it’s a rare thing when an organization is scolded by the media for pulling an aging quarterback to start a promising young rookie.

Before Tua took over, Fitzpatrick had thrown for 2,091 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions with the Dolphins second in the AFC East. He would be a cheap option in Chicago and a perfect guy to start ahead of a rookie the Bears would need to select with their first-round pick in this case.

Fitzpatrick is also a Harvard graduate, so that’s worth something having a brainiac under center. All reports throughout his entire career point at Fitzmagic being a terrific teammate and absolutely electric in post-game interviews.

One downside to signing Fitzpatrick is that he’s never surpassed 3,905 yards which were his career-high in 2015 when he was a member of the New York Jets. In fact, he has thrown over 3,000 yards only five times in his 16 year NFL career.
