Chicago Bears Round 3, Pick No. 84

With Tashaun Gipson heading to free agency, the Bears need to correct their revolving door of safeties opposite of Eddie Jackson. They can do this by adding the intriguing safety in Hamsah Nasirildeen.

Nasirildeen is a big and powerful safety. Standing over 6′ 3″ and weighing over 213 pounds, he is a freak of an athlete that can be used as a chess piece all over the field similar to how Jeremy Chinn is used in Carolina. He isn’t incredibly fast, but he is extremely explosive and is a fluid athlete. His ability in the run defense is very impressive.

He translates as a strong safety due to his instincts and his ability to get downfield quickly to make tackles. This doesn’t take away from his ability in pass coverage as he has a ton of upside there as well due to size. He can cover tight ends with his size or slots with his athleticism.

Nasirildeen would give the Bears what they’ve been missing since Adrian Amos left in 2018. Although Amos wasn’t great in pass coverage, he was a high-end run stopper and box safety for the Bears that allowed Jackson to excel in his free safety spot. He would be a perfect fit for this Bears defense if he cleans up some issues.
