There has been a lot of drama surrounding Allen Robinson since the beginning of this season. Allen Robinson came to Chicago in 2018 on a prove-it deal to show that he could rebound after the ACL injury he suffered in Jacksonville. He bounced back majorly though and proved he is a top 15, arguably top 10 wide receiver in the NFL.

In his first season in 2018, Allen Robinson was solid, but he only started 12 games due to an injury. He only had 754 receiving yards and four touchdowns as well. He really balled out with the Bears in their playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles showing what he could do catching 10 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown.

2019 that carried over as he was the only bright spot of a depressing offense. Despite the Bears’ offense being horrid and marred by injuries, Robinson caught 98 passes for 1,147 yards and seven touchdowns. He proved he was back from his injury and a top receiver in the NFL.

Then in 2020, Allen Robinson once again proved it wasn’t a fluke by somehow following up that season with an even better season. Despite the Bears flipping between Nick Foles and Mitchell Trubisky, Robinson still caught 102 passes for 1,250 yards and six touchdowns.

The Chicago Bears might need to move on from Allen Robinson in 2021

So, why would the Bears let him go? Unfortunately, there hasn’t been much talk between Ryan Pace and Robinson about an extension. Robinson could get tagged, but the Bears’ current cap situation is tight, so they may just tag him to trade him. Robinson unfortunately is a high luxury they may not be able to afford.

The Bears could target a wide receiver via free agency or via the draft. They could even draft a wide receiver in the first round to go with their young talent in Darnell Mooney. Here are some players they could target in the first round.
