Chicago Bears: The truth about the future at quarterback

The Chicago Bears are rumored to be big players in the quarterback market this offseason. So far we have heard rumors about trading for Carson Wentz, Derek Carr, and now potentially looking to trade up in the draft. Wentz is in Indianapolis now, Carr is rumored to be getting an extension from Oakland, and who knows how much it will cost the Bears to move up. All we know is that there will most likely be a new starter going into next season that is not Nick Foles or Mitchell Trubisky.

I have been an advocate for bringing in Sam Darnold and I was okay with bringing in Wentz. Both would be considered reclamation projects in the fact that they have not worked out for their respective teams.

Darnold was the third-overall pick in 2018 and has not played nearly well enough to be considered a starter anymore. Wentz was the victim of a completely injured offensive line and horrible offense overall but still could not make the plays he should have.

The thing is that both have great potential. Darnold was the third pick for a reason and has shown flashes of being a good quarterback. He has the arm talent and is quite mobile to go along with great size. Wentz was a former MVP frontrunner just a few years ago. Both of these guys come with great potential. Yet, the Bears are not the team that will tap into that potential.
