The Chicago Bears could end up reaching for Kyle Trask

Dear sweet baby Jesus, please do not allow the Bears to reach for Kyle Trask.

Although he had an unbelievable season at Florida, Trask is still a raw prospect. He benefited greatly from having two first-round talents in Kadarius Toney and Kyle Pitts. Trask rarely had to move off his first or second read, because these guys were always there to make a play.

Of course, he could have someone like that in Chicago if Robinson sticks around. But, the NFL is a different beast. With the way Trask processes and goes through his reads (or the contrary, actually), pro defenses would eat him alive early on.

Now, he could end up developing after a couple of years. But, again, this isn’t a team that’s going to be fine with allowing a quarterback to develop for a while. That’s been tried already with Trubisky, and it failed.

If the aforementioned scenario comes true where there are five quarterbacks off the board by pick 20, then Trask becomes a legitimate option for Pace. He’s not a first-round talent. He’s hardly a second-round talent if you ask me.

The stats would tell you this kid is going to be excellent. But, in this case, stats lie. Watching Trask’s film I see several issues with ball placement and, again, an inability to go beyond his first or second read. He will have a gigantic wake-up call when he hits the field as a pro.
