The Chicago Bears are predicted to sign Ryan Fitzpatrick

I honestly would not hate this as long as the team was able to bring in a quarterback from the 2021 NFL Draft. That said, I think with signing Ryan Fitzpatrick, the team will need to make sure whoever they draft in April is an early draft pick. By early I mean within the first three rounds.

Signing Fitzpatrick would likely mean that the Bears are locked into using him or Nick Foles as the starting quarterback in 2021. Both Fitzpatrick and Foles are used to riding the bench, and although that does not bode well for the Bears, both would be a better short-term answer at quarterback unless the team moves up in the first round or, even crazier thought, a top-six quarterback falls to 20th overall.

Fitzpatrick is by no means a good quarterback, but he should bring a bit of excitement to the offense. Fitzpatrick does not shy away from throwing the ball deep either — something this offense has lacked at times over the last two years. For a team that seems to have a scarcity of explosive plays, Fitzpatrick could eradicate that in 2021.

Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace should be excited to sign Fitzpatrick for the deal Spotrac predicts also. The prediction here is a one-year, $8 million dollar deal. That gives Pace plenty of flexibility to bring in other talents to surround the new bearded rock-slinger. Adding Fitzpatrick also means the team could draft a future, franchise left tackle with one of its first two picks this year. Another thing this team desperately needs.
