Chicago Bears: 5 Under-the-radar offensive free agents to consider
By Joseph Herff
The Chicago Bears might be able to use Jacob Hollister | Tight End
Jimmy Graham is currently under contract for 2021 and he played well in 2020, but he still could be a cap casualty for the Bears this offseason due to their tight contract situation. That could put the Bears in the market for a new ‘U’ tight end in their offense as Cole Kmet is the ‘Y’ tight end.
Jacob Hollister could be the perfect fit for this. It was hard for the tight end to find playing time on the Seattle Seahawks due to the presence of Greg Olsen and Will Dissly, but Hollister still played well when given the chance. Hollister has proven in Seattle that he is not only a ‘U’ tight end, but he can additionally be used as a fullback or even a ‘Y’ tight end as well making him extremely valuable.
Last season, he caught 25 passes for 209 yards and three touchdowns. Again, he didn’t get many looks due to his spot on the depth chart, but he should be given a chance elsewhere. As a reliable wide receiver, he would prove to be a mismatch split out for the Bears. At only 27-years-old, Hollister could look for a new home to prove what he can do.
