Chicago Bears: 4 trades involving Allen Robinson, Sam Darnold
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears could opt to trade for Sam Darnold, leaving Robinson out of it
Poor Allen Robinson. If the Bears left him out of trade talks and he ultimately stuck around, there’s a chance he’d be equally as frustrated with Darnold as he was with his previous quarterbacks.
Again, there is always the chance that Darnold needs a chance of scenery before he completely blossoms into what many thought he would be coming out of USC.
If Chicago wanted to trade for Darnold, they could probably get by with dealing their third-round pick this year.
The big risk involved, though, is the fact that this likely means Darnold is the Bears’ big quarterback move this year. They won’t be doing anything else at the position. They’d be banking on Darnold for this season.
Going two rounds without a pick now (third and fourth) means the Bears would have to go offensive tackle in one of the first two rounds, and depending on what happens with Robinson, maybe even wide receiver.
Landing Darnold could pay off, or it could be a complete disaster. This type of deal is a monumental risk for Pace, who would be without significant capital for yet another draft.
