Next week, there is supposed to be a huge wave of cuts across the NFL, and the Chicago Bears better be prepared.

The term “wave” of cuts doesn’t even do justice to what is about to happen, either. This offseason is going to be unlike anything we have ever seen in the NFL.

ESPN’s Dianna Russini described next week’s events to be a “massacre.” NFL free agency is going to be a wild ride.

Because the salary cap is set to be smaller this year than recent years after the league endured how COVID impacted revenue, the crop of free agents is about to be much bigger than normal years.

Now, it’s about the anticipation. Some of the cuts have already begun, but the Bears have yet to make a big cut. Thus far, Buster Skrine is the most notable name being released. But, Skrine is not going to be the only victim.

While the Bears adjust to the cap like everyone else, they will be monitoring other cuts around the league to try and fill some of their own needs this offseason. Again, there have already been quite a few players informed of their impending or immediate release. But, there are many more on their way.

A lot of players probably know their ultimate fate, and several teams around the league must know as well. There are a handful of names that would be intriguing, at the very least, for the Bears to look at.
