The Chicago Bears are in trouble if Mel Kiper is right about the 2021 NFL Draft

Not many people truly thought the Chicago Bears had a chance at the first-overall pick, which is more than likely going to be Trevor Lawrence. I know some recent analysts have put Zach Wilson over Lawrence lately, but I am not one to make that shift. I like the upside of Wilson, but at the same time, I think people are just trying to be “too cute”. Lawrence has been and still remains my top prospect.

Either way, the Chicago Bears are not going to be able to move up from the 20th-overall pick to one of the top two picks. And that pretty much rules Lawrence and Wilson out anyway. That said, I thought the Bears had a slight chance of moving up for Justin Fields should he fall closer to the 10th pick. If not Fields, that left at least Trey Lance or Mac Jones as options.

Well, if what Mel Kiper is predicting comes true, then the Chicago Bears might be left with only Kyle Trask or developmental quarterbacks to choose from. In Kiper’s most current mock draft, he has five quarterbacks being selected within the first nine picks. This would truly be historic on a couple of levels. One, we have never seen that many quarterbacks go that early. Two, it is very rare for more than four quarterbacks to be selected in the first round.
