1. Malcolm Brown

The most important aspects of the depth running back would be size, between the tackles running and pass protection. They have speed, and smaller backs already, and Patterson kicks everything outside. They need a grinder who can plow ahead and get the tough yards if Montgomery goes down.

Malcolm Brown is the perfect option for them. To start, studs like Cam Akers sat on the bench because they could not pass protect as well as Brown. Brown does not have the extra gear of burst, but he is a grinder, who always plows ahead and gets the tough yards. Akers was unrefined, and Darrell Henderson kicked runs outside.

No one could understand how the less physically talented Brown was seeing more carries, but he was just more refined and better as a power runner. No team is looking to Brown as a starter, but the Chicago Bears would love for him to be their David Montgomery backup. If the price is right, the role is perfect for this player.
