Chicago Bears: Round 3, Pick No. 91 via MIN

Following the trade back with the Minnesota Vikings, I was glad to see Spencer Brown was still sitting there for me to select. The massive offensive tackle gained a lot of buzz at the Senior Bowl and showed that he can make the jump from FCS competition to the NFL.

A part-time starter in 2018 and a full-time starter in 2019, Brown showed even in that limited experience that he was special. It is completely rare to have the combination Brown has of size (6′ 9″, 315 lbs) and mobility in an offensive tackle. He earned himself preseason All-American honors in 2020 before having the season pushed back to the Spring of 2021. Brown then declared for the draft.

As stated above, Brown is a freak of nature. You don’t find many players as athletically and physically gifted as him. Brown has everything you want in an offensive tackle such as size, length, athletic, strength, flexibility, and a mean attitude. He always blocks until the whistle blows and finishes his blocks.

Spencer Brown would be a perfect piece to develop under Charles Leno. Leno as a veteran could help teach Brown some technique and help him translate to the NFL better. Brown definitely isn’t ready to start yet and likely will be a developmental piece, but he could be a left tackle of the future given his traits.
