8. Brian Hill, RB

This is not a flashy signing by any means but it does make a lot of sense. The Chicago Bears learned the hard way that while Cordarelle Patterson can line up in the backfield and take carries, he is not quite a running back.

When David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen got hurt, the Bears were exposed to have no capable NFL running backs on their roster. Fortunately for them, Montgomery only missed one game, but the team has to realize that they need an actual backup for him next season.

Brian Hill has been reliable as a backup in Atlanta the past few seasons. He has the size and power between the tackles that does not force the Bears to take Tarik Cohen out of his role but also cut into the heavy lifting that Montgomery is doing.

Brian Hill had one of his better games of 2020 against Chicago with a touchdown run that showed good vision and an ability to finish a long run. Matt Nagy saw firsthand that he can be a capable backup, and he could be the right depth back for Chicago.
