Chicago Bears: 3 potential replacements for Kyle Fuller after his release
By Joseph Herff
Chicago Bears could add Casey Hayward — Los Angeles Chargers
The former second-round pick for the Green Bay Packers really didn’t break out until he left Green Bay and played for the then-San Diego Chargers. His first year in San Diego, Hayward broke out totaling seven interceptions and earning himself his first Pro Bowl.
Casey Hayward was bad though in 2020, but that can be used as a great tool for the Bears to get the two-time Pro Bowl cornerback. The Bears could use his age and his decline as a discount on a player who was lockdown in 2019. In 2019, Hayward only allowed an 88 passer rating when targeted and earned himself an 83 grade from PFF.
From 2012 to 2019, Hayward’s lowest PFF grade was 71.5 back in 2015, his last year with the Green Bay Packers. He has consistently been an underrated number-one cornerback for years. The Bears can get a discount on him and allow Kindle Vildor to continue to develop behind him.
Other options:
- Malcom Butler, Tennessee Titans
- Xavier Rhodes, Indianapolis Colts
- Desmond Trufant, Detroit Lions
- AJ Bouye, Denver Broncos
- DJ Hayden, Jacksonville Jaguars
