With the 174th overall pick, the Chicago Bears select Wyatt Hubert

The Chicago Bears select Wyatt Hubert (EDGE) Kansas State. Now I know you are mad. No quarterback, and after trading, there is only one more draft pick in this Chicago Bears mock draft.

While I do believe in drafting a quarterback much higher, build this thing up around Andy Dalton. I know how that sounds. While in my opinion, Mitch Trubisky has a more natural talent in him than Dalton, Dalton has more quarterback in him than Trubisky.

The entire NFL knows that. Otherwise, Packers players wouldn’t be publicly saying that all they have to do to win is force Trubisky to play quarterback, and they can win. I got into a discussion with someone on Twitter about good quarterbacks.

They brought up players such as Rich Gannon, Jim Plunkett, and other anomalies. Most of them had something in common. They weren’t better until they were older. Now, I am not saying Andy Dalton can pull a Rich Gannon, but you have a better chance of him playing better if you protect him and give him some weapons. I guess that’s reason three on why Pace is likely to not select a quarterback.

Wyatt Hubert is a true 3-4 edge defender. Barkevious Mingo was not brought back, who is also a traditional stand-up 3-4 edge defender. Hubert is an explosive edge listed at 6’3″ and 265 pounds. He not only has athleticism, but he has a wide variety of pass-rushing moves.

Do you want to find a player who has a sack against Samuel Cosmi and Teven Jenkins? That is this guy. A similar size to last year’s rookie Trevis Gipson, Hubert has the tools and intellect to get to the quarterback.

I honestly don’t know what the disconnect on the mock draft rankings and Hubert are, but if he is available here for the Chicago Bears, they don’t need to let the clock wind down. The Chicago Bears have had success from Kansas State, no need to ignore the well that keeps delivering.
