Today, Mac Jones had the floor to showcase what he’s got at the first of two Alabama pro days. It appears that the Mac Jones fan club is now on the rise. It will be interesting to see if the Chicago Bears are also a fan or not.

There are obvious question marks remaining for the 2020 Davey O’Brien Award winner, but were some of those question marks answered today? Yes, the sample size is small, but if they weren’t significant snaps, there wouldn’t be scouts there to watch them – included in that group of scouts was Chicago Bears quarterbacks coach, John DeFilippo.

As someone looking at Mac Jones as a potential future Chicago Bears quarterback, his Day 1 was significant to me, and here’s why.

The weapons that the Bears have aren’t as, dare I say it, plentiful as they were in Tuscaloosa, AL. If Jones is drafted by the Chicago Bears, he will have to learn how to make decisions as he did in Alabama but with weapons that might not be as sharp or nearly as efficient. However, once Jones starts to heat up with his guys, it’s apparent that he can do some damage to opposing defenses.

In the 2020 season, Mac Jones had an outstanding season finishing first in yards with 4,500 on the dot, second in passing touchdowns with 41, winning the National Championship, and winning the 2020 Davey O’Brien Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, and Manning Award. Now, with the stats and the hardware, why should people be skeptical of Mac Jones? Because he had arguably the best supporting cast a college quarterback could ever ask for.
