Ryans Pace’s last resort as Chicago Bears general manager
I want to add the fact that I have some sympathy for Dalton. I don’t think as many people would have been mad if we signed him last year for $2.5 million. He’s an average quarterback who is the fall-out option for Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy. It’s the fact that Bears fans, get hope for a savior like Russel Wilson but instead get rewarded with yet another average quarterback.
We as fans do it to ourselves by trusting a team managed/operated like the Bears. Pace paid four times the amount he would have paid Dalton the previous year and four times the amount of the previous starter Mitch Trubisky. It just doesn’t make any sense.
If Dalton had a half-decent season last year, I can see why the Bears would offer him a smaller deal. He not only underwhelmed but he was below average with great weapons.
Who in their mind would look at his value and think Dalton is worth $10 million? Only Ryan Pace. The same guy who outbid himself for Mike Glennon. The same guy who traded up to draft Trubisky, let him walk, and signed Dalton for four times as much. The whole situation is almost comical.
