The Chicago Bears add much-needed wide receiver help in the third round

Midway through the second round and into the third round is where the draft starts to get muddy, especially at wide receiver. There are several prospects who could go higher or lower, and USC’s Amon-Ra St. Brown is one of those polarizing players.

Some folks have him as high as the second round, while others think he’s better suited as a fourth-rounder. To find the happy medium and bolster their receiving core, the Bears take him in the third at pick 83 overall.

Thankfully, Allen Robinson signed his franchise tender after he saw the wide receiver market dwindle before his eyes. That $18 million is far more than anyone not named Kenny Golladay received this offseason, so it was smart for him to take it. But, the Bears could still trade him. That saga may not be over.

In any event, the Bears have to add at least one receiver. They very well could part ways with Anthony Miller (whom they have been trying to trade) as well as Javon Wims. Darnell Mooney is the only sure thing at this point, and even Riley Ridley is a question mark.

St. Brown is one of the draft’s most complete receivers who does a lot of things very well. One of his best attributes is his strength, as we’ve seen in some of his workout videos floating around social media.

This is a guy who catches the football and then makes it his mission to make it impossible for anyone to bring him down. He’s got phenomenal hands and wins 50-50 balls regularly. St. Brown could line up outside or in the slot, depending on how the Bears want to use him.

Last year was down in terms of production, which is why he could slip this far. But, in 2019 he topped 1,000 yards and caught six scores.
