Chicago Bears 7-Round Mock Draft: Throw quarterback out the window
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears bring in a developmental quarterback
Just when you thought the Bears would completely forget about the quarterback position, they decide to take a dart throw. With their last pick of the draft, Chicago snags Feleipe Franks out of Arkansas.
After spending three seasons with the Florida Gators, Franks transferred to Arkansas and found success immediately. In 2020, Franks passed for 2,107 yards, 21 touchdowns and just four picks in nine games.
Franks stands 6-foot-6, which makes him one of the biggest quarterback prospects in this year’s draft. He’s a guy who can see the field well, which is evidenced by the four picks he threw all of last season.
Not having any tremendous attribute, Franks is average just about everywhere you look. His arm is not huge and he’s not overly athletic. Although, if the Bears were to give him a few designed runs here and there, he would be quick enough to make them count.
At the very least, the Bears have a guy to develop as a potential backup. Totally passing on the quarterback position would be a disappointment, so for Pace to grab a guy this late is at least taking a swing.
