The Chicago Bears move up from 20 to 11th-overall to select a quarterback

In this situation, the Chicago Bears waited a little more patiently and gave up slightly less than they would in the Broncos trade. I am more open to this trade too. It is still quite a bit to give up, but this team is in desparate need of a quarterback. I have Mac Jones ranked above Trey Lance, but they are also in my same tier for the 2021 quarterback prospects (we will have a consensus top-five rankings at each position soon).

In my opinion Mac Jones has the higher floor, but Trey Lance has the higher ceiling. I do believe both are worth moving up for though and this decision would come down to what Matt Nagy wants from his quarterback. Jones is less athletic, but showed he can move well enough at his pro day. He has great processing skills and accuracy throughout all levels of the field. Lance is easily more athletic and a dual-threat, but his deep ball is very pretty as well. Both are worth it.

With this draft trade, the Chicago Bears are able to retain their second-round pick, which means they can take a top offensive tackle. Names like Liam Eichenberg, Alex Leatherwood, Jalen Mayfield, Brady Christianson and Dillon Radunz are all names that have been linked to the second-round (some are also possible late, first-round projected players).

This is important as the Chicago Bears must address the offensive tackle position. If not here, then they could also look to take the best corner or wide receiver on the board to help bolster either side of the ball. Either way, the team has the opportunity to land a top-50 player here as opposed to only a top-100 player as they would if trading with Denver.

Now, it might be possible that this trade could cost the Chicago Bears a little less too. In 2019, the Broncos moved up from 20th-overall pick to 10th overall. They sent the Steelers that pick, plus their 2019 second-round pick and only a future third-overall pick. Although this ruins the offensive tackle in the second round I had hoped for this season, but keeping a future first round pick is substantially better. The team could make a similar pick with the Chargers at 13th-overall.
