Chicago Bears: 5 pass-catchers in free agency to help Andy Dalton
By Braden Fogal
Andy Dalton is now the starting quarterback of the Chicago Bears and he needs more playmakers.
The Chicago Bears already have a solid foundation of offensive weapons that should help Dalton settle in under center. Between Allen Robinson, David Montgomery, Tarik Cohen, Darnell Mooney, Cole Kmet and whether or not the team opts to cut Jimmy Graham, Dalton’s not in as bad of a situation as some might think.
Anthony Miller is still on the roster as well despite trade rumors and it remains to be seen what the Bears come away within the draft. Knock on wood that the offense stays healthy this season, but just in case it doesn’t, there are still some sneaky names in free agency Ryan Pace could sign for cheap to provide some depth.
Big names like Kenny Golladay (Giants), Chris Godwin (Bucs) and JuJu Smith-Schuster (Steelers) are already off the board following the first wave of free agency. The front office has yet to resign Cordarrelle Patterson and must be confident in the playmakers on offense, outside of the recent Damien Williams signing.
Signing players like Williams is smart because of what they bring to the table. Williams went to a Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs and can help mentor young backs like Montgomery and Cohen. The same method should be used in the wide receiver and tight end room to provide some insurances.
These are five under-the-radar free agents that Pace can sign to help out Dalton.
