Unfortunate news on Mac Jones’ possibly being drafted by the Chicago Bears

For those that somehow haven’t seen or heard, the San Francisco 49ers now have possession of the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. People are speculating that Mac Jones could be exactly what Kyle Shanahan needs to bring the 49ers back into serious contention.

However, the 49ers also seem to have enough interest in Justin Fields for people not to ink Mac Jones to the San Francisco 49ers as a sure bet. However, pro days are not the only sample to evaluate, and they certainly shouldn’t be the reason for a drastic change in opinion. There’s also quite a bit of film for all of these coaches, scouts, and GMs to look at when deciding who to give the keys of the franchise to.

It’s known that the 49ers will be selecting a quarterback with the third pick, or so Kyle Shanahan said in a press conference following their trade when he said:

"“When you’re sitting at 12, I don’t like to go to a bunch of quarterback pro days and things like that. Now that you move up to three, you don’t have to hide as much.”"

Is Kyle Shanahan being truthful in this statement, or is this a cover-up of what they’re truly doing? It’s tough to tell, but I’d be willing to bet that the 49ers end up drafting a quarterback with the No. 3 pick. It’s still early, but all things have pointed to that being the case thus far.

Speaking of GMs being at pro days, Ryan Pace was also in attendance of Mac Jones’ pro day performance, so it appears that Chicago at least has an interest in the Alabama QB.
