Now, I know what a lot of you are thinking: “Uhhhh,  no duh.” I agree that it’s obvious to say that the 2020 Heisman Trophy winner helps a quarterback look good, but I’d go as far as to say that it was visibly obvious that Mac Jones threw the ball significantly better when DeVonta Smith was receiving than he did to the less-elite pass-catchers. And that’s no knock to them.

DeVonta Smith is just someone that could make a lot of people look like an NFL quarterback, and it was interesting to see the difference in balls thrown to DeVonta compared to those not.

For example, one of the best throws of Jones’ two pro days combined came on a deep ball to DeVonta Smith, which was evident as to why these two had so much success together last season.

The big question a lot of people are asking is will Mac Jones be able to succeed in a team that doesn’t have top-notch talent at every position? And that question is still somewhat unanswered, even after his two pro day performances. Sometimes, Jones’ throws were severely under-thrown – especially when you hit the ceiling– while some throws were a tad overthrown, even to a familiar face like Najee Harris.

Next. Small school WRs Bears should consider drafting. dark

With a lot of time left, and the draft order being nowhere near cemented into place, it should be interesting to see who makes what moves. This is a draft with a lot of skill-position talent, so the future of many NFL franchises could be shaken up a bit.

For those in Chicago, that should be the mindset.
