The Chicago Bears could pounce if a quarterback falls to pick no. 8

The top half of the draft is going to be wild this year. Quarterbacks will likely go over the first three picks, but beyond the 49ers, that’s where the fun begins.

Will the Atlanta Falcons be able to pass up on Florida tight end Kyle Pitts? You would have to think LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase goes by pick number eight, right? What about Oregon offensive lineman Penei Sewell? He’s another guy who will have to go before the Panthers’ first-rounder.

The Bears could be in an ideal situation to make their move with Carolina at that number eight spot.

Looking at what the 49ers gave up for pick no. 3, you’d have to believe the Bears would give up something just under that type of package for a pick five spots later. In this scenario, the Bears send their first-rounder this year and next year, along with a 5th rounder this year and third-rounder in 2022.

The question is, which quarterback will drop to pick number eight? Nobody knows for sure. The debate has been raging on in regards to Justin Fields or Mac Jones at pick three, but Trey Lance is still a worthy selection, too.

To be frank, it doesn’t matter which of those guys is there at eight. Chicago has to make their move to try and go up to get a quarterback. The current plan hasn’t worked, and investing in a first-round rookie is likely the way they will turn things around.
