Scouting Report. WR. 1. player. DeVontaSmith. 829. Pick Analysis. Alabama

The Chicago Bears bring in a game-changing wide receiver

Let’s get real bold, shall we? In the first eight picks, we could see four or even five of the top quarterbacks selected. This might be one of the craziest first rounds we have ever seen before. In this case, that would include the Bears going up and getting this past season’s Heisman Trophy winner, Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith.

How do they do it? It’s actually not as painful as one would imagine.

Bears Receive: Pick no. 10

Cowboys Receive: Pick no. 20, Pick no. 228, 2022 2nd Round Pick, 2022 6th Round Pick

If Smith was on the board at pick number 10 overall, the Dallas Cowboys would be facing another difficult dilemma like they did last year. Already boasting Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup, the Cowboys snagged CeeDee Lamb based on the fact he was the best player on the board when they were on the clock.

Now, if Smith was there, the Cowboys couldn’t possibly take him, right? Not to worry, they wouldn’t have to. The Bears would move their first-rounder this year, a sixth-rounder this year, a second-rounder next year and a sixth-rounder next year in order to land Smith.

Look, Smith might still be the best receiver in this class. Ja’Marr Chase is special, and there’s an argument to be made for the LSU product. But, the only real knock on Smith is his weight. Let’s say he puts on a good 10 pounds of muscle — that would be plenty to avoid the worry.

Just imagine Allen Robinson, DeVonta Smith and Darnell Mooney.
