Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Unexpected quarterback taken in Round 1
Chicago Bears: Round 5, Pick No. 164
You can’t have too many good offensive linemen, especially with the Bears’ quarterback troubles and recent decline in the production of the offensive line in recent years.
Menet was a durable player during his time at Penn State, starting three years during his collegiate career. He’s a big player at 6’4, 301 pounds who plays under control and with lots of strength.
His shorter arms and heavy feet make him more suited for the interior line, which could definitely use some depth. With so many question marks with players like Mustipher, Bars, and Germain Ifedi, as well as the future of Cody Whitehair, the team can afford to build the trenches with Menet and find a solid and cheap backup center in Menet. He could also shift to guard as needed with his broad frame and strong punch.
If at nothing else, Menet is another insurance selection who can compete for a starting job on the Bears’ offensive line.
