Chicago Bears Draft: Round 6 Pick No. 204 and 208

It’s hard to gauge what Cornell Powell could become. During his time at Clemson, Powell struggled to see the field and once he did, he looked impressive. It is concerning though that he never saw the field until his senior season. He did post a nice line of 53 receptions for 882 yards and seven touchdowns.

Powell would be a nice replacement for Javon Wims. He is a good blocking wide receiver which frankly is all Wims is good for. At least with Powell, he has enticing measurables that could help him develop into a great ‘X’ wide receiver. Wims should be released after last season anyway and Powell could be a nice replacement.

Many think the Bears don’t have good cornerback depth, but I personally think they do. Because of that, I held off taking a cornerback until the sixth round. Avery Williams doesn’t have the ideal size for an outside cornerback, but he could be a great competitor for slot cornerback at the next level. Williams’s real ability comes though as a kick returner and special teamer as he shows incredible speed and vision in his return game.

Williams would be a great fit in Chicago for that reason. They need competition for slot cornerback with Buster Skrine being released. Additionally, they need competition for kick returner as Cordarrelle Patterson seems to be gone as he still isn’t re-signed. He could make an immediate impact at kick returner.
