Chicago Bears: Round 5, Pick No. 161 (via BUF)

Replacing Akiem Hicks is no easy task, but with Eddie Goldman returning, the Bears can afford to find his replacement on Day 3.

Bobby Brown III joins his college quarterback and finds himself competing for playing time with the likes of Bilal Nichols, Angelo Blackson, and Goldman. Should he be Nichols 2.0, it will be another steal in this draft.

Brown was active for the Aggies as a rotational player, finishing 2020 with 35 tackles and six sacks. He’s strong on the line and could fit the Bears’ scheme very nicely as an additional rotation piece.

164. Pick Analysis. S. Missouri. Tyree Gillespie. player. 57. Scouting Report

Chicago Bears: Round 5, Pick No. 164

Rounding out this fifth round is senior safety Tyree Gillespie, who will also look to compete for a starting job alongside Eddie Jackson.

He has good size and athleticism to play strong safety for the Bears. He struggled a bit in college to play over the top, so shifting him down in run coverage to fill lanes may be his strong suit.

Gillespie is a willing tackler and plays the run hard. He adjusts well when reading a quarterback and has a solid football IQ. There’s plenty of potential for him on special teams and to find a role on this Bears’ defense lacking a true starting strong safety.
