Chicago Bears: Round 6, Pick No. 208

Grabbing an athletic flyer here in the sixth-round, the Bears can use this pick to replace Jimmy Graham should he be cut. Granson was a solid contributor in college who can find a nice role behind Cole Kmet, as well as depth on special teams.

His blocking isn’t very impressive, but he makes up for it with a great release and solid route running. Scheming him in 12 personnel can create more mismatches for defenses. If nothing else, he’s a developmental piece for this Bears’ offense in his first year who can find a way onto the field with a willingness to both block and open up the field.

Pick Analysis. QB. SamEhlinger . 221. 57. Scouting Report. Texas. player

Chicago Bears: Round 6, Pick No. 221

Similar to picking Ian Book in my last mock, Ehlinger is here solely for the Bears to have a project QB on hand. Ehlinger played with a chip on his shoulder for Texas and is a solid competitor, but his arm strength is rather lacking.

In fact, there’s a lot of work for Ehlinger in order for him to become a solid NFL quarterback. That being said, having two rookies on this roster shows that the Bears are taking every approach to get this spot right for once.

With other draft needs already addressed earlier, the Bears can afford to grab Ehlinger here. If he can translate his confidence and solid reading of defenses to the pro level, there’s no saying that he can’t compete for the Bears’ starting job with a little work.
