Chicago Bears: Round 6, Pick No. 228

Eagles joins his teammate Ehlinger as the Bears grab some depth at wide receiver here.

He has a lot of athletic upside and explosiveness, but his route running could use some work. Eagles is willing to block and can track the ball well in the air, so at the very least he’s a training camp body for the team. He has a chance to beat out players like Javon Wims and Riley Ridley if he can prove he’s more than a one-dimensional receiver.

Being able to move on from Nick Foles for next to anything is a win, so getting a seventh-round pick here allows the Bears to take another athlete as a project piece. Ohio State has had many successful defensive line prospects, making Cooper here a nice last pick.

He’ll be entering an edge room with the likes of Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn, who are both on the wrong side of 30. After that, it’s 2020 fifth-round pick Trevis Gipson and newly signed Jeremiah Attaochu.

Cooper is an intelligent player who plays tough football and gets upfield fast. He’ll have a solid chance of making the active roster- if, at nothing else, the Bears find a good athlete to keep around on the practice squad.
