The Chicago Bears will likely trade up in the 2021 NFL Draft

The odds of the Chicago Bears trading up and staying put at 20, in my opinion, are pretty even. I am not suggesting that the Chicago Bears trade up, but I do sense that Pace is looking at a player who will fall because of the potential quarterback run.

Try not to get too excited about getting the left tackle of the future due to a quarterback run. I got caught up with that because I value tackles higher than many other positions. But if the Chiefs, who cut talented offensive linemen due to injury and cap space, did not appreciate them the way they do, what makes us think Matt Nagy is going to be in Ryan Pace’s ear saying get me a first-round tackle. That isn’t being realistic.

With Matt Nagy as head coach and Ryan Pace’s aggressive mindset, a quarterback could be an option if one fell that they love. Depending on the player and how far they fall, I see the Chicago Bears going after a playmaker. Keep an eye on Jaylen Waddle, Devonta Smith (maybe Ja’Marr Chase, but I doubt he falls), or Kyle Pitts.

I think Ryan Pace has all of these players in his elite cloud, and if any of them drop to 9, 10, or 11, I could see the Chicago Bears making a splash move up to grab any one of those players. Those are actual game-changing caliber players. We can all admit that. I know what you are thinking — but the Chicago Bears need this and that.

Well, the Chicago Bears need a franchise quarterback, if we are honest. So until that happens, get used to the next best thing. That should have been in my mock for building around Andy Dalton. Something exciting is going to happen. Just prepare yourself. Or maybe Ryan Pace still believes in defense and drafts one of the top cornerbacks. A splash is likely coming.
