Chicago Bears trade up for unexpected superstar in 7-round mock draft

When looking at this draft class, there are a few players who stand out above the rest. Many want the Chicago Bears to trade up into the top-10 or even the top-five for a quarterback. Although I would love the idea of landing Justin Fields should he drop past the 49ers and third overall, I am not confident that happens even with the reports Kyle Shanahan is in on Mac Jones.

Shanahan is close to Justin Fields quarterbacks coach, John Beck who also started training with Trey Lance. It appears that Shanahan and the 49ers have been in close contact with Beck. If somehow Fields does not go third overall, then we can throw this entire mock draft out the window because trading up in the first round to land Fields should be the main goal. Fields is the second-best quarterback prospect in this draft class — yes better than Zach Wilson.

I can understand why people love what Wilson brings to the table. He has immense upside. That said, the hate on Fields has gone too far. Trying to compare him to Dwayne Haskins is a bad take and lazy analysis. The worst take I read is, when has there ever been a legit quarterback to come out of Ohio State (or insert Alabama too regarding Mac Jones). It only takes one to change that narrative. Look at Patrick Mahomes coming out of Texas Tech.

The thing is, there are a few other prospects in this draft who should be considered playmakers who do not play quarterback that could change the narrative of any team. In this mock draft, the Chicago Bears trade up for one of those playmakers.
