Chicago Bears trade up for unexpected superstar in 7-round mock draft
With the final two picks, the Chicago Bears grab another WR and OL
Kyle Pitts can play as a wide receiver, but adding another option late allows the team to cut ties with the likes of Anthony Miller (hopefully traded) and Javon Wims. Neither has proved worthy enough to hold onto at this point. Miller has some serious upside and hopefully, he can improve his game in a different offensive scheme.
Josh Imatorbhebhe is an athletic beast. He was a four-star athlete who transferred to Illinois from USC. While at Illinois, Imatorbhebhe put up some serious numbers despite playing in a fairly weak offense. In 2019, Imatorbhebhe scored nine touchdowns and gained 634 yards on only 33 catches. His numbers dipped some in a shortened 2020 season, as he scored three touchdowns and gained just under 300 yards on 22 catches.
Imatorbhebhe is a solid sleeper in this draft. He set the college record for the vertical too with a 46.5″ jump. This compares more to basketball players than it does NFL players. Workout warriors do not always translate to the NFL, but at this point in the draft, I would love to see the Bears give the kid a shot.
Another late-round flyer that I would love to see the Chicago Bears grab is Tommy Kraemer. Kraemer is projected to be a depth piece who has the ability to push for a starting spot on almost any offensive line. Bringing him into Chicago would allow him to push Alex Bars as the first-runner up behind Cody Whitehair and James Daniels.
Kraemer is a five-star recruit who started all four years while at Notre Dame. He stands 6’6″ and weighs in at over 315 pounds. Kraemer would fit in nicely here with other Notre Dame offensive linemen Sam Mustipher and Alex Bars.
Final Thoughts:
Again, I have come to the realization that the best way for the Chicago Bears to compete in 2021 is to draft playmakers. Adding a guy who looks like the closest thing to a sure bet outside of Trevor Lawrence in Kyle Pitts shakes everything up. Bringing in Landon Dickerson and Brady Christensen should also help solidify the offensive line.
