Moving up again, the Chicago Bears move a player and a bunch of picks
Once again, the Bears look to move up to pick No. 12. This time, there’s no telling who is available at that spot. But, for the Bears to move up eight spots and give up so much, they have to be eyeing someone specific. Who knows, maybe Trey Lance, Justin Fields or Mac Jones fell? Each year, we see one quarterback fall to a later spot than anticipated. This year should be no different.
Chicago would deal their No. 20 pick, a third-rounder this year and a second-round selection next year in exchange for the 12th overall pick this year.
The Eagles also do the Bears a favor with this trade, in taking Danny Trevathan off their hands. Trevathan’s performance the last couple of years has taken a dip, and the Bears could use the extra cap space going forward.
At that No. 12 pick, the hope here is that one of those quarterbacks has fallen. If not, this deal doesn’t happen. The Bears should only make this deal if they can land a quarterback. It’s a bit different than the first trade, because they’re not shedding Robinson’s salary here, nor are they getting a second pick back in return.
Could any of these deals make sense for Chicago? Possibly. What we should count on going into the draft is this: Pace will make a move. There is no question whether he will or not. The only question is, where does he make the trade and with which team?
