Chicago Bears may have found a trade partner for the 2021 NFL Draft
The Chicago Bears find themselves picking 20th in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft. In just less than two weeks from today, we will know how the first round of the draft plays out. With rumors that the top five quarterback prospects are likely to be selected within the first 10 picks, is it possible that Ryan Pace wants to move up? Clearly, the team was willing to be aggressive for the likes of Russell Wilson, but what about an unproven prospect who is not the clear number one option?
Well, if one of Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance or Mac Jones should fall in the draft, it appears that Ryan Pace and the Chicago Bears may have found themselves a trade partner — the Dallas Cowboys. Reports are that if the right player (Kyle Pitts is who it sounds like Jerry Jones wants and will not get at 10) does not fall to them at 10, the team is willing to move back into the first round should the right opportunity present itself. Well, the Chicago Bears just might be that key opportunity.

What will moving up to 10th overall cost the Chicago Bears?
I am not so sure that a quarterback will be there at 10th overall if we are being honest with ourselves. If one is there, it will most likely be Mac Jones or Trey Lance. Part of me is holding out hope that teams do not see what I see and are buying into this media hype that Justin Fields is unable to make progressions. Then, and only then, will Fields possibly fall to 10.
Both Mac Jones and Trey Lance are worth moving up to 10 though also in my opinion. That is very similar to what the Kansas City Chiefs did in 2017 when they moved up to select Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs were sitting at 27th in the draft but moved up to 10 by trading up with the Buffalo Bills. The rest is history. Could one of the top five fall to 10 and live up to a similar storyline? Maybe.
In 2017, the Chiefs not only swapped their 2017 first-round pick, but they also gave the Bills their 2017 third-round pick and 2018 first-round pick. Moving up from 20th overall to 10th overall should not cost quite as much, but will be somewhat similar. Would moving up be for one of these quarterbacks or will Ryan Pace move up and surprise everyone by taking a top offensive tackle or offensive playmaker?
We will look into that at another time. Until then, continue to Bear Down.
