3 Players the Chicago Bears could trade during the 2021 NFL Draft
By Joseph Herff
Anthony Miller, Wide Receiver
As of recently, trade rumors surrounding Bears’ slot wide receiver Anthony Miller have picked up as Ian Rapoport reported this at the beginning of April.
Miller showed a ton of promise as a rookie catching seven touchdowns on only 33 receptions. He became the slot receiver with Taylor Gabriel and Allen Robinson on the outside. Miller made a few incredible catches and showed plenty of ability to destroy man coverage with his crisp route running. Unfortunately, he never made anything of himself after that year.
Miller constantly has been called out by Matt Nagy for his failure to run the right routes. He saw an increase in playing time in 2019 despite this due to an injury to Gabriel, but he saw his snap percentage drop greatly with the selection of Darnell Mooney in the fifth round of 2020. Miller finally got his chance to play more against the New Orleans Saints due to a Mooney injury, but he bottled that chance by throwing a punch at Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and getting ejected.
I’ve called for Miller to be cut since that incident for weeks, but if the Bears can get any value from the hot-headed wide receiver who isn’t reliable, that would be spectacular. The Bears would be lucky to get a fifth-round pick out of Miller in a trade.
