The Chicago Bears have zero picks in the fourth round thanks to Ryan Pace

As previously alluded to, the Bears could have had Dalton last year, if they really wanted him. But, now he’s a year older and the Bears are in a much worse position. Chicago likely has no plans to utilize Nick Foles in 2021 for more than simply a mentor and locker room guy, but they’re paying him as an expensive backup.

They also paid a price for Foles last year, going without a fourth-round pick in the 2020 draft.

Here we are again, though, with the Bears not possessing a pick in the fourth round. Last year, Pace traded it away to move up and draft pass rusher Trevis Gipson, who rarely saw the field as a rookie.

Let’s ask ourselves an honest question: would we rather see Gipson on the roster this year or the Bears have an opportunity to draft a wide receiver, cornerback or offensive lineman in the fourth round of the 2021 draft?

Hindsight is always 20/20, and understandably so. No one can predict the future. However, even last year when Pace traded up to get Gipson, it was after he paid Robert Quinn. The move, in total, did not make a ton of sense. It looks even worse now, when the Bears have some serious, pressing needs to address. But, they’ll have to wait until the fifth and sixth rounds to hopefully find a couple of gems.
