1. Andy Dalton “commitment” from Chicago Bears

It is completely unfair to compare Mike Glennon to Andy Dalton. However, the way in which the Chicago Bears are using Andy Dalton, you have to be reminded of how they highlighted that Mike Glennon was their man while they traded up from 3 to 2. Perhaps without being right at number three, the Chicago Bears needed a bigger smoke screen sitting at 20. Hence, Dalton.

Still, from the press conference to the social media team, the Bears commitment to Dalton resembles their commitment to Glennon more than anything else. We talked about Pace is desperate and willing to move. Someone so invested in going all-in does not seem to be set on Dalton being his only chance at job security.

He brought in Nick Foles last year, but that is because with his confidence he could not quit Mitch Trubisky. Pace wants to go all-in on somebody and he is using Dalton to hide it. You can argue his contract, but he is the lowest paid non-rookie salary QB who would be a starter in the league.

Beyond that, Mike Glennon made more, and we have seen examples in the past of QBs making more such as Tyrod Taylor, and even this year the 49ers will draft a QB while paying Jimmy Garoppolo. The salary means nothing.

If all quarterbacks go top five, and Chicago cannot get up there, they may not get their man. However, as reports come out, it is more and more likely that one of these players gets in a range where the Chicago Bears will trade up. Do not be surprised when the Bears are all of the sudden on the clock earlier than expected on Thursday night.
