Chicago Bears, Tre’ McKitty

1. Tre McKitty, Georgia

The tight end class is not the strongest this season. After the top five, the rest of the group may be waiting until day three to hear their names. For the most part, if the Chicago Bears add a tight end on draft weekend, it will be a player who could replace Demetrius Harris, or compete with J.P. Holtz.

If the Chicago Bears want to find an option that could potentially make Jimmy Graham expendable, Tre McKitty is their only option out of the top five. McKitty is flying under the radar after a weird year. After things went south for the Florida State program, McKitty transferred to Georgia last year. Of course, with COVID issues, McKitty was unable to adjust to the offense and barely made noise as a receiver.

However, he adjusted and grew as a blocker. If there is a tight end in this class who has both the receiving and blocking chops and could fall to round five or six, it is Tre McKitty. He has long arms, good size, and blocking skills, and has played in a few different offensive schemes.

The Bears could use the cap space that Jimmy Graham is currently carrying. Finding a gem like McKitty and trusting him as a TE2 early into his career could help the Bears move on from Graham.
