Justin Fields expects to be the Chicago Bears franchise quarterback

"“I expect myself to be a franchise quarterback and one day, hopefully a top-5 quarterback in this league. So, that’s what I’m going to thrive to do. I’m going to work everyday to reach my goal and reach new heights.”"

As Fields explained in this answer, it became apparent that Fields holds himself to a high standard. A lot of people would say this level of expectation could be setting yourself up for disappointment, but I don’t believe that’s the case with Justin Fields. As stated earlier, Fields is a born leader, and him having these types of expectations should be good news for a team yearning for a franchise quarterback for decades.

Something else to dive into is that the Bears have a … passionate fan base holding you to the expectations put on yourself. To some, that could be very intimidating, and in some prospects, it could be their detriment. Again, that’s not Justin Fields.

Fields’ response to playing for passionate fan bases:

"I came from a big program, like Ohio State, where the fan base is very passionate about their sports. So, there’s definitely no added pressure.”"

When going from someone like Mitchell Trubisky that played for a program like North Carolina, the expectations are far different from those of an OSU quarterback like Justin Fields. So, him physically saying that he knows how to handle passionate fan bases is much more calming than prior quarterbacks.

Lastly, what did Justin Fields specifically say about his excitement to be a Chicago Bear? Does his excitement match the fans’ excitement?
